What is Elvis Juice?
Brewed by BrewDog, Elvis Juice is an IPA at its finest! Here's how BrewDog describes it:
"An American IPA with a bitter edge that will push your citrus tolerance to the brink and back; Elvis Juice is loaded with tart pithy grapefruit.
This IPA has a caramel malt base, supporting a full frontal citrus overload - grapefruit piled on top of intense aroma hops. Waves of crashing pine, orange, and grapefruit round out this citrus-infused IPA."
And they're right! If you wondered how grapefruit would taste like in a beer, you should give the Elvis Juice a try. Especially in this hot Malaysian heat, Elvis Juice is a nice refreshing IPA with a tinge of sweetness that hits just the right spot.
How did they come up with the name?
There is no real answer to what inspired BrewDog to come up with the name "Elvis Juice" - that's just one question that we have to ask their founders - James and Martin. Are you guys reading this by any chance?
But what we do know is that when the beer took off, Elvis Presley's estate came in guns blazing with a copyright infringement notice over the use of the name Elvis.
What happened next?
Staying true to their identity of not bending the knee, James and Martin took matters into their own hands and did something no one expected - they legally changed their names to Elvis. This was to show that Presley wasn't the only Elvis out there in the world.
The legal battle dragged out for 2 years until finally BrewDog won! In their own words, "common sense prevails".
BrewDog did all of that just for a beer name. Imagine what else they can do the shake up the craft beer world!
